LOUISVILLE, KY: The men’s basketball team of Louisville managed to halt the flow, if only briefly.
The Cardinals defeated Florida State 101-92 despite being restricted by injury thanks to career efforts from Ty-Laur Johnson and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield. Not only was it UofL’s first win in the series at home since Jan. 20, 2016, but it was also their first win versus FSU since Mar. 7, 2018.
If Louisville is to build on this and create a winning streak, they’ll have to take down Syracuse on the road to do so. The Orange are in year one of the post-Jim Boeheim era and sporting a 14-8 record so far under head coach Adrian Autry, but have dropped five of their last nine games.
“It has to translate,” head coach Kenny Payne said regarding his team moving forward after the win over FSU. “Again, I don’t want it to be a light switch where all of a sudden we play great and games, but we have bad practices. I want our preparation to be tight. I want our preparation to be hard, and us embrace it, us dominate the practice, and then it translates to a game.:
Payne took time to speak with the media on the weekly ACC Coaches Conference Call before their game against the Orange. He analyzed the recent game against Florida State, offered an update on Skyy Clark and Hercy Miller’s injuries, and more. He also gave a preview of the upcoming game at Syracuse.
