Christian McCaffrey, a star player for the San Francisco 49ers, acknowledged that he was ignorant of the significance of his father’s 1999 Super Bowl victory.

When the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday’s NFL game in Las Vegas, McCaffrey Jr. will have the opportunity to become a Super Bowl champion alongside his father Ed.

has won three Super Bowls: once with the 49ers and twice with the Denver Broncos. Christian was only two years old during Super Bowl XXXIII.

A picture of a young Christian walking around the confetti-filled field after his dad and the Broncos’ 1999 victory surfaced ahead of the running back’s chance at glory.

Inquired about the picture in the lead-up to this week’s Super Bowl, the MVP candidate acknowledged that, as a young man, he had not yet fully understood the significance of the occasion.

They will only be the second father and son in NFL history to win a Super Bowl together if Christian and the 49ers are successful.

And a third, in the form of Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the Niners, and his father Mike, who also won as the head coach of San Francisco alongside Ed McCaffrey, would join them.

As an offensive coordinator for Denver, Mike Shanahan’s father lost two Super Bowls before moving to San Francisco and winning one in 1995. After that, he led the Broncos to two more victories.

“I recall how difficult it was on my dad after those Super Bowls when he was a coordinator in Denver when I was younger,” Shanahan remarked. Thus, I believe that losing the final one when you’re that close is the hardest.
