The return from injury of Alex Pritchard is something Tony Mowbray is hoping for when Birmingham City plays Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.
Due to a calf injury, Pritchard, 30, was unable to play in Friday night’s 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday. He has joined captain Dion Sanderson and goalie John Ruddy in the Blues’ training ground’s treatment room. Alfie Chang and George Hall have been out for a while, although the former may return this week for the under-21s.
At Hillsborough, Cody Drameh made a comeback to the Blues’ bench, and Lukas Jutkiewicz resumed training. If Mowbray decides to change things up, Drameh might get the start against Blackburn.
Before Blackburn, who are currently led by former St Andrew’s chief John Eustace, arrive at St Andrew’s on Tuesday, here is the most recent information on the injured players for the Blues.
Damage: Calf
Pritchard’s calf injury kept him out of the game at Hillsborough, putting him in the doubt column. In his Blues debut against West Bromwich Albion, January signing Pritchard was forced to be substituted before halftime. With a match against his old team Sunderland coming up, he will be aiming to make a quick recovery.
Potential comeback: Blackburn, February 13 (h)
John Ruddy’s calf injury
After Ruddy got hurt on deadline day, the Blues attempted to rearrange their roster in an attempt to sign a goalkeeper. With Ruddy, Mowbray is taking things day by day and anticipates that the 37-year-old will return to training this week. Mowbray stated in a statement on Thursday that “he is pretty close to coming back.”
Potential comeback: Sunderland, February 17 (h)
Dion Sanderson
Damage: Ankle
Prior to the Leicester match, Sanderson suffered a right ankle injury during practice. Mowbray estimated that his skipper, who is currently working out in the gym at the Blues’ training complex without his protective boot on, would be out for three weeks.
