The Pittsburgh Steelers have a decision to make about who their starting quarterback will be in 2024, and Mitch Trubisky won’t be the answer.
The Steelers and Trubisky have mutually agreed to transfer, NFL Network reported Tuesday night.
Trubisky had two years left on a three-year, $19.
4 million contract he signed last May.
Trubisky will join the Steelers as a free agent in 2022, the same year Pittsburgh drafted quarterback Kenny Pickett in the first round.
Trubisky started this season as the starting QB, but quickly ceded his spot to Pickett.
In 2023, while Pickett struggled with injuries and regression, Trubisky started two games and ultimately helped the Steelers turn to Mason Rudolph for a wild card spot.
In 12 games with the franchise (seven starts), Trubisky completed 64.
1 percent of his passes for 1,884 yards, eight touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
He added four rushing touchdowns.
Since entering the league as the No.
2 draft pick of the Chicago Bears in 2017, Trubisky has 12,536 passing yards and 72 in 69 games (57 starts) with the Bears (2017-20) while with the Buffalo Bills.
He has scored a touchdown and has 48 picks.

The Steelers hold nearly every notable QB record in the franchise.
During his time with the Steelers, one of the league’s most storied franchises, Roethlisberger set an NFL record with 18 scoreless seasons.
With Roethlisberger at the helm, the Steelers were always in the game, winning Super Bowl IV with head coach Bill Cowher and Super Bowl XLIII with Mike Tomlin.
He led the Steelers to a total of three Super Bowl appearances (Pittsburgh lost to Green Bay in Super Bowl 45), 12 postseason berths, and eight district championships.
Statistically, Roethlisberger’s career is one of his greatest.
He finished his career eighth in passing touchdowns (418) and fifth in passing yards (64,088), completions (5,440) and attempts (8,443).
As for the Steelers, Roethlisberger has been the franchise standard in QB wins, passing yards, passing TDs, completions, attempts, 300-yard passing games, game-winning drives, and fourth-quarter comebacks.
Roethlisberger’s 165 wins are second only to New England’s Tom Brady for most QB wins with a single team.
The great Terry Bradshaw won four Super Bowls with the Steelers, but Roethlisberger’s dominance in every other category makes him the best in the history of the league’s best franchise.
