Crystal Palace morning, reports that manager Roy Hodgson is stable in hospital after being “taken ill” during training on Thursday.

Palace cancelled a news conference after the 76-year-old became unwell.

On Thursday morning, it was widely believed that Palace were planning to fire Hodgson, with the club currently 15th in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone.

On Monday, Palace will face Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

“Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today’s training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in hospital,” the club announced on X, the previous Twitter.

“Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery.”

According to BBC Sport, Hodgson is on his way out, with former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner a strong contender to take over.

Hodgson took charge of his 200th match as Palace manager earlier this week, with Chelsea defeating his side 3-1 at Selhurst Park.

The former England manager is on his second spell in command of Palace, having returned for the final ten games of last season on a short-term deal to replace Patrick Vieira.

After leading Frankfurt to the Champions League knockout rounds last year, the Austrian left the club at the end of the season, with a year remaining on his contract, following a 10-game winless streak in the Bundesliga.
