The Raiders are reportedly interested in Justin Fields.
The Las Vegas Raiders want to add another quarterback to their squad. They have once again been identified as a team interested in quarterback Justin Fields.
Given the Raiders’ draft picks and his relationship with the incoming Raiders’ Offensive Coordinator, Luke Getsy, Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline believes the Raiders are actually interested in Fields.
“There’s another team that I’m told has a genuine interest in acquiring Fields and will explore trading for him: the Las Vegas Raiders,” she stated.
“Jimmy Garoppolo, whom the team signed to a three-year, $67.5-million contract just last year, is on his way out and is set to be released by the franchise. Garoppolo was Josh McDaniels’ choice but only appeared in seven games last season.
“He was eventually replaced by rookie Aidan O’Connell, who is currently atop the depth chart. Antonio Pierce appears to have chosen O’Connell, who had the “interim” tag removed from his position a few weeks ago and was anointed head coach following a successful run replacing McDaniels.
While O’Connell performed admirably as the starting quarterback, Coach Pierce has already declared that he will have to battle for the starting spot next season.
“Throwing in All-Pro receiver Davante Adams will undoubtedly appeal to Fields, and having Jakobi Meyers only makes the Raiders more intriguing. The Raiders have nine draft picks available to trade for Fields, including one in each of the first six rounds, beginning with the 13th pick, and three in the seventh round.
Although Pauline reports that the Raiders are interested in Fields, it is uncertain whether the team would pursue the quarterback this offseason.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be hosted in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The NFL Draft will take place in Detroit, Michigan, on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders presently have the 13th overall pick.
