Golden State Warriors

Without question, Andrew Wiggins played a key role in the Golden State Warriors’ 2022 championship run. He hasn’t appeared the same, though, as the Warriors are still having trouble winning consecutive games. There have been whispers involving Wiggins as the February trade deadline draws near.

The 2023–24 Golden State Warriors season has not been enjoyable. Whatever the case, Stephen Curry is still among the league’s finest players right now, but he could do with some stronger supporting cast. According to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, in that case, the Warriors might try their hand at dealing some of its players, including Andrew Wiggins.

Andrew Wiggins will probably be traded by the Warriors, in my opinion,” Kawakami stated. “He makes the initial choice. For him, what can they get? What must they do in order to get away from him?

It’s unclear what kind of trade deals the Warriors will receive if they formally declare Wiggins transferable. Although he is not the same player as he was in his debut season with Golden State, in the correct situation, he might still be a great asset to a different team.

assessing the trade value of Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins
On his “The Stein Line” podcast, NBA analyst Marc Stein talked about the intriguing scenario involving the trade worth of Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins.

“The question persists, what sort of market exists for Wiggins?” stated Stein. How come he was demoted from the Warriors starting lineup so soon after signing what is thought to be a team-friendly contract? Wiggins, 28, is currently in Year 1 of a $109 million, four-year contract.”

First of all, given the potential assets it might get in return for Wiggins, Golden State will need to exercise caution while making its next move for the player. It will probably be difficult for the Warriors to trade him because of his uneventful season.

The Golden State Warriors are under no obligation to deal for Wiggins at this time, and they are free to further assess his worth and potential trade packages throughout the offseason. Curry is still a top player, thus the organization cannot afford to make costly errors in selecting players to surround him on the roster.

In addition, the Warriors have lost six of their past ten games and are currently in 12th place in the Western Conference standings (17-20 record). Whether it’s a reorganization of the roster or adjustments to the rotation, one thing is certain: this season has not gone as planned for the organization.
