Former Vikings star Adrian Peterson is ‘open’ to returning to the NFL: ‘See What Happens’
Adrian Peterson, a former Minnesota Vikings great running back, has left the door open to returning to the NFL.
Adrian Peterson, a former NFL running back, appears to still be interested in playing in the league where he dominated for years.
The 2012 MVP winner has been out of the league since 2021, when he was a member of the Seattle Seahawks. He just played one game and had 16 rushing yards on 11 carries.
But, having not been seen since, one may have assumed Peterson’s 17-year NFL career was finished. Well, think again, since Adrian has confirmed that he still wants to play.
“I had to let my body recover,” Peterson told CBS Sports. “I had some injuries and everything. My last injury was with Seattle; I suffered a pinched nerve and didn’t want to go under the knife. It took about a year for that to recover completely, but I’m always willing to go out there and play again. “We will see what happens.”
So it looks that Peterson, once regarded as the top running back in the NFL, still wants to suit up and finish his football career.
It’s unclear if there is a market for a 38-year-old running back who hasn’t played since 2021, but having a guy of Peterson’s level in the locker room could be useful.
Being a four-time All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler, and MVP winner would undoubtedly give teams pause, but his time away from the game could be a stumbling block.
In either case, Peterson appears to be preparing to return to the NFL. Whether or whether it happens is another story, but the door for a return is wide open.
