The good news just keeps on coming for Spencer Danielson and the Boise State football program.

Kicker Jonah Dalmas announced Friday he has elected to use his COVID season of eligibility and return to Boise State in 2024.

Dalmas is one of the most accomplished and accurate kickers in the country and many expected him to take his shot at the NFL. But he’ll instead have a chance to set numerous school, conference and national records. 

He has 80 career made field goals – just 18 short of breaking the NCAA career field goal record of 97, set by NC State’s Christopher Dunn in 2022.

“Boise State, you have been good to me! And for that, we are running it back in 2024!” Dalmas posted to Twitter. “I’M BACK!”

Dalmas was 24 for 27 on field goals in 2023 and established a new school record for longest field goal with a 56-yarder against UCF. He was one of nine kickers to make at least four field goals of at least 50 yards and made 10 of 11 kicks from beyond 40 yards.

“My brothers and I are on a mission and we are never satisfied,” Dalmas said in a release. “I’m doing this for my brothers and The Brotherhood and I can’t wait for what’s next.”

The Meridian, Idaho, native currently ranks second all-time in NCAA history in career field goal percentage at .889 and is 15th with the 80 made field goals. He needs just four field goals to break the Mountain West record for career made field goals. 

Both his career makes and percentage are already school records. 

Dalmas joins ‘super seniors’ Alexander Teubner, Markell Reed, Tyler Crowe and Michael Callahan as players who have announced plans to return to Boise State in 2024. Running back Ashton Jeanty, a junior who would have been highly sought in the transfer portal, also announced he was staying at Boise State for next season.
