Pittsburgh — The NFL lost a legend this week with the death of ESPN analyst Chris Mortensen, and as the news emerged, the Pittsburgh Steelers sent their condolences to his family and loved ones.

The Steelers expressed their condolences to Mortensen’s family via X, which was previously known as Twitter.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell described Mortensen’s passing as a “sad day for everyone in the NFL.”

“I admired how hard Chris worked to become one of the most influential and revered reporters in sports,” Goodell said in a statement. “He won our and many others’ admiration not only for his dogged pursuit of news, but also for the generosity he showed everyone he met. Many of us will dearly miss him.

“We send our condolences to his family, his colleagues and the many people Chris touched throughout his well-lived life.”
