Kenny Pickett was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles last week after spending his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the quarterback has now broken his silence on his departure.

Kenny Pickett has spoken out about his trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Philadelphia Eagles, maintaining he has no ill will towards his previous team.

In his inaugural press conference with the Eagles on Monday, the 25-year-old discussed how he believes he handled his departure from the Steelers correctly.

“I think the communication is what it is,” Pickett told reporters. “It happened behind closed doors. I am confident with how I handled it. I handled it as I should have. “I’m thrilled to be here.”

“It worked out so perfectly that I ended myself in Philadelphia. So, I believe everything happens for a purpose, and I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

Pickett’s comments come after the signal caller sent a farewell message to the city of Pittsburgh but not the Steelers organization. Pickett was reportedly upset by the Steelers’ signing of Russell Wilson, with reports claiming the quarterback handled the arrival of Wilson “poorly.”

“Thank you, Pittsburgh!” Pickett posted on his personal Instagram page. “I moved to this city seven years ago, and it transformed my life forever. I’m grateful for all of the fantastic people I’ve met and for everyone who has supported me along the road.”

Since being selected 20th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett has struggled with consistency and staying fit. Pickett’s record as a starter is 14-10 in 24 games, with 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
