Nebraska football defender’s stunning injury resulted in a Saturday hospital visit.
Nebraska football had a scare on Saturday morning when one of its players was transported to the hospital. Matt Rhule stated he was stunned.
Linebacker and team captain Luke Reimer was brought to the hospital on Saturday morning, just as the Nebraska football team was preparing for their game against Michigan.
Matt Rhule, the Huskers’ head coach, spoke about the incident following the team’s 45-7 loss and confessed he was surprised it happened that way. While Reimer was injured in the Huskers’ game against Louisiana Tech, there was speculation that the linebacker could return on Saturday.
That’s why it was odd that he and Cam Lenhardt were both classified as “out” on the official injury report. They were the only players mentioned in the report at all.
The degree of Reimer’s injuries appears to have been unknown to the Nebraska football staff until this morning. At the very least, they didn’t expect things to become worse.
Rhule stated that the linebacker was in such much discomfort during breakfast that the decision was made to transport him to the hospital.
A Nebraska football player was hospitalized.
Rhule did not elaborate on what prompted the hospital visit. He also did not explain what the injury was in the first place. It appears that the damage occurred when Reimer was unaware of how bad things were getting.
Obviously, with that news, it is unlikely that Reimer will play on Friday against Illinois. The question now is whether his season may be over.
Since the season began, the Nebraska football team has suffered a lot of “body blows” due to injuries. Jeff Sims has not played since Week 2. Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda was out for the season in Week 1. Gabe Ervin and Rahmir Johnson were out for the season in Week 3.
Now it appears like Nebraska football will be playing without another significant player for the foreseeable future.
