Steve Cooper sends message to Nottingham Forest fans after Wolves draw

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper’s Reds draw 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux

Head coach Steve Cooper insisted he wasn’t saying a final farewell to Nottingham Forest fans after his team’s 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Reds went into the game at Molineux with Cooper’s job on the line after a miserable run of form. But they stopped the rot of four straight defeats by returning from the West Midlands with a point.

After the final whistle, Cooper walked over to the away end. Forest supporters had showed their support for him throughout, and the Welshman says he was keen to express his gratitude.

“That’s the last thing it was,” he said when asked if it felt like a goodbye. “I was saying thank you for the support, you’ve spent a lot of money this week and dragged the players through challenging times in the game and have a safe journey home. I was just full of gratitude.”

Forest took the lead through Harry Toffolo, only for Matheus Cunha to respond for the hosts. But the visitors had chances to claim all three points, with Toffolo and Cheikhou Kouyate missing good opportunities.

“I’m disappointed with the chances we missed. But I’m really proud of the team, away from home, the spirit and the togetherness,” Cooper added.
