Pitchers Génesis Cabrera of Toronto and Yohan Ramírez of the New York Mets have been suspended for three games.
NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Baseball suspended pitchers Génesis Cabrera of the Toronto Blue Jays and Yohan Ramírez of the New York Mets for three games each on Sunday due to actions in separate games.
Ramírez’s actions led to a one-game suspension for Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, according to Major League Baseball’s senior vice president for on-field operations, Michael Hill.

Cabrera was penalized for on-field actions that resulted in a bench-clearing incident during Toronto’s 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Ramirez was punished for intentionally throwing at Milwaukee’s Rhys Hoskins in the seventh inning of the Mets’ 7-6 loss Saturday.

Both pitchers filed appeals, which put the suspensions on hold until the appeals process was completed.

Mendoza served his suspension Sunday in the Mets’ series finale against Milwaukee, his third game as a major league manager.

All three were fined.

At the end of the seventh inning in St. Petersburg, Florida, Cabrera confronted José Caballero and shoved the Tampa Bay shortstop.

Caballero scored on a bunt single and advanced around the bases after third baseman Justin Turner made a throwing error. After Caballero was tagged out at third for the final out of the inning, Cabrera, who was covering third base, exchanged words with Caballero and shoved him. Cabrera was ejected.

A day after his hard slide at second led to a confrontation with Mets infielder Jeff McNeil, Hoskins hit a two-run single in a three-run first inning, followed by a two-run homer in the third, and singled and scored on Luis Severino’s balk in the fifth.

In the seventh inning, Ramírez’s first pitch to Hoskins landed far behind the right-handed hitter. Hoskins dropped his bat and glared at Ramírez as the reliever raced to catch the ball, which bounced off the backstop. Ramírez was ejected by plate umpire Lance Barrett. He later stated that he did not intentionally throw at Hoskins.
