Louisville police credit Cardinals players for assistance in the recovery of an overturned car near their stadium.
Louisville, Kentucky (AP) – On Thursday, Louisville Metro police hailed Cardinals football players on social media for coming “to the rescue” in helping right an overturned vehicle in an accident near their home stadium, L&N Stadium.
On Monday afternoon, the LMPD’s verified account on X, formerly known as Twitter, tweeted a video of a car driving past the junction of Central and Floyd avenues near the stadium’s southeast corner. The video blurs the incident, but it shows at least five Cardinals players and another driver putting the mangled vehicle from the driver’s side back onto its wheels before emergency personnel arrived.
The driver had minor injuries in the accident but will recover, according to the LMPD video. It did not identify the Louisville players that assisted in the rescue, but football spokesperson Rocco Gasparro stated that junior wide receiver Jadon Thompson, a Cincinnati transfer, was one of them.
The LMPD video began with a classic Cardinals football emblem and ended with a graphic that read, “TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.” Louisville Football tweeted the video, writing, “Proud of our guys & thankful everyone is okay!”
On Saturday, the Cardinals (3-0) will face Boston College (1-2) in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.
