What’s his deal?
De’zie “Dez” Jones is a glue-for-hands wide receiver who has delivered quite the career for DePaul Catholic in New Jersey. He racked up over 3,000 receiving yards in his high school career, which puts him high up on the all-time leaderboard for career receiving yards in the state.
He’s a receiver whose impressive route running and agility make him a difficult cover. This, combined with his willingness to block for his teammates, gives Ohio State an intriguing prospect to work with in the coming years.
Jones committed to the Buckeyes in March of 2024 and was the lone wide receiver commit at the time.
How he fits in with Ohio State
Jones is now one of four wide receiver commits in the class of 2025. He ranks third of four in terms of national ratings as the two above him, Quincy Porter and Bodpegn Miller, are top 15 recruits at the position.
But as a school ever-developing a reputation of producing top-end wide receivers among the nation’s best, Jones will slide right in as a player with a high ceiling. More importantly though, perhaps, is that Jones, along with most of the 2025 receiving corps, will have the time they need to develop with the likes of Jeremiah Smith and the talented receivers already repping the Buckeyes.
Jones contributes to what is one of the nation’s top WR classes and will be an exciting player to keep an eye on over the next several years
