The following are the non-conference opponents for Louisville men’s basketball.
Louisville, Kentucky — The University of Louisville men’s basketball team has published its non-conference schedule for 2023-24.
Fans can expect ten home games at the KFC Yum! Center, two of which are exhibitions.
Coach Kenny Payne is excited to begin his second season, saying in a statement, “Our non-conference schedule will allow us to prepare against challenging competition and provide a competitive environment that our squad is looking forward to. We’re excited to introduce you to the high-character, competitive bunch who will be wearing the Cardinal uniform this season.
The University of Louisville is 104-86 all-time against non-conference opponents, but this season’s slate will be hard. The Cardinals will face Nos. 2 Duke, No. 5 UConn, No. 15 North Carolina, No. 17 Kentucky, No. 18 Miami, and No. 24 Texas.
The Cardinals begin the season with an intra-squad Red and White Scrimmage on October 11 and will open preseason play against Simmons College on October 18. Tony Branch, a former Cardinal and member of the 1980 National Championship team, currently coaches at Simmons. Jerry Eaves, his teammate, is the school’s athletic director. Both are UofL Athletics Hall of Fame honorees.
Louisville will play their last exhibition game against Kentucky Wesleyan on October 30.
The Cards’ regular season begins at home on Nov. 6 against University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), followed by Chattanooga and Coppin State.
Then UofL takes the road and heads to the Big Apple to compete in the Empire Classic, which benefits the Wounded Warrior Project. UofL will play the Longhorns of Texas before facing either defending national champion UConn or the Indiana Hoosiers in the final game on November 20.
The always-anticipated game against rival Kentucky is scheduled for December 21 at the KFC Yum! Center.
UK leads the all-time series 38-17, with a victory in Lexington last year. The Cardinals have a 10-13 record at home in the series. The teams have met every season since 1983, with the exception of the 2021-22 season, when the game was canceled due to COVID.
TV channels and game timings will be announced later. The conference will unveil Louisville’s ACC schedule soon.
