Will an underappreciated Braves player be selected as MLB The Show 24’s cover athlete?
Numerous Playstation cues lead us to believe that the legendary video game’s cover could feature an Atlanta Braves infielder.
The national media has been praising the Atlanta Braves a lot for their season-ending performance, which included Spencer Strider leading the league in strikeouts, the entire offense tying the record for the most home runs in a season, and Ronald Acuña Jr.’s incredible 40/70 season, which earned him the NL Most Valuable Player award.
Well, with one notable exception.
One player that we all anticipated to be on the list but was left off of MLB Network’s “Top Ten Right Now” rankings is: Ozzie Albies, the second baseman.
Ozzie Albies batted.280/.336/.513 with 33 home runs, 96 runs, and 109 RBIs during his 4.7 WAR season, but he managed to finish outside of the top ten in MLB Network’s rankings, where legends like Andrés Giménez (.251 average with 15 home runs, 76 RBIs, and 62 RBIs) and Zack Gelof (2.6 WAR) were included.
And it seems like PlayStation took that personally.
MLB The 2024 Show cover athlete will be revealed on Wednesday at 1:00 PM ET, and the teaser trailer suggests that Ozzie might be the winner, similar to what (ex) second baseman Jazz Chisholm did the season before.
