In their matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Golden State Warriors have updated their injury report…

Due to an illness, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson will not play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. He was not originally mentioned on the injury report. About thirty minutes prior to tip-off, the Warriors confirmed that Thompson would not be playing. As a result, rookie Brandin Podziemski would start for the Warriors in Thompson’s place.

The Warriors were planning to play Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and Draymond Green in what they think could be their first reliable starting lineup of the season. This is a difficult break for them. Naturally, Thompson’s late scratch affects not just Golden State’s starting lineup but also the entire rotation because it puts more pressure on the bench unit.

For the Warriors this season, it has been one thing after another as their poor performance has been exacerbated by important players’ unavailability. This season, the Warriors have seen several important players come in and go out of the starting lineup, but Draymond Green has been the main absentee, mainly because of sanctions.

Although Thompson wasn’t even on the original injury report, it doesn’t appear like his illness will keep him out for very long. Nevertheless, it will keep the star guard out of Tuesday night’s game against the 76ers.
