Five-Star Lists UNC Basketball Head Coach Among In-Person Recruiters
Holy Innocents Episcopal School (Ga.) junior forward Caleb Wilson hasn’t revealed finalists in his recruitment. But if he had, there’s no doubt the UNC basketball program would have survived the cut.
After all, the Tar Heels are slated to welcome Wilson to campus for an official visit in less than two weeks, coinciding with UNC’s Feb. 3 home game against archival Duke in the Smith Center. The 6-foot-10, 205-pound explosive five-star initially planned to check out the school back in November, but he ended up postponing the trip
Wilson has only made three official visits thus far, to Auburn, Kentucky, and Stanford, according to Joe Tipton of On3. All of those happened in 2023. As a result, head coach Hubert Davis and his team should be happy with their position in the race given that UNC will be the first to host him this year.
According to Tipton, Wilson—who currently sits at No. 4 in the 247Sports 2025 Composite—told Davis that he is only one of seven head coaches who had seen him so far this season.
He also listed Bruce Pearl of Auburn, Damon Stoudamire of Georgia Tech, John Calipari of Kentucky, Dennis Gates of Missouri, Jerod Haase of Stanford, and Rick Barnes of Tennessee.
Caleb Wilson has stated that he is not in a hurry to select a winner, so it is not surprising that the 247Sports Crystal Ball hasn’t identified a front-runner for his services.
He is one of eight five-star prospects that presently grace the remarkably ambitious 2025 UNC basketball offer sheet, all of whom are ranked in the top 15.
