Odds show a clear favorite for the next Commanders head coach.
After the Seattle Seahawks and former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald came to terms of a six-year deal on Wednesday to become Pete Carroll’s replacement, there is only one head coaching position left in the NFL.

The Washington Commanders are still looking for Ron Rivera’s successor in the nation’s capital, with the team doing their due diligence to find the right person for the job, even though there are plenty of intriguing candidates out there.

As of right now, there are four big-name candidates on the open market that would be perfect head coaches for the Commanders going ahead, with the organization and its new ownership group determined to turn the floundering franchise around as soon as possible.

Bill Belichick, Eric Bieniemy, Dan Quinn, and Mike Vrabel are all still looking for job in the NFL, and each would be a valuable addition to the Commanders if hired.

According to BetOnline.ag, Vrabel is the favorite among these four contenders for the head coaching position in Washington, with +190 odds, according to Jaime Eisner of The Draft Network.

When reports circulated that Belichick would be dismissed by the New England Patriots, the iconic head coach was linked to the Commanders, with many believing he’d be an excellent match for the squad.

However, chatter died down quickly once Belichick formally entered the open market, as it appears increasingly probable that he will have to wait until next year to restart his coaching career in the NFL.

Vrabel, who won three Super Bowls with Belichick in New England, was stunned by the Tennessee Titans’ decision to let him go, despite being largely regarded as one of the league’s top head coaches.

At this point, the Commanders can’t go wrong with any of the four options stated above.
