Andrew Embley, a former West Coast Eagles champion, is aiming for thrilling victories in the team’s upcoming chapter.
Norm Smith, the former Eagle who won Andrew Embley says West Coast’s fresh hope will result in development and “really good wins” and that 2024 will be a new chapter for his beloved old team.
After what was perhaps the worst season in the club’s illustrious history—finishing dead last to win just their second-ever wooden spoon and celebrating just five victories in the preceding two seasons—the Eagles enter the 2024 campaign.
A massive rebuild has been accelerated as a result, with the West Coast hitting the draft and acquiring young players like Campbell Chesser, Harley Reid, Reuben Ginbey, and Noah Long.
He said to The West Australian, “I think they will improve; what that looks like in terms of wins and losses, I’m not sure.”
However, there appears to be a good deal of optimism at the football team right now, and from what I’ve heard, most of their players have been allowed to participate in the preseason as opposed to the previous two years.
“Everyone appears to have put in the effort, and based on my own experiences, I believe that when you get everyone on the track and are able to spend a lot of time building that base during the preseason, it really helps.”
“I find it to be really exciting actually. It feels like a fresh chapter because my West Coast friends and I are talking a lot about the young children that are coming through right now.
Thus, I believe that this year will bring forth some truly thrilling moments for the West Coast. They will, in my opinion, have several excellent victories.
While many of West Coast’s senior players had impressive preseasons, dynamic, high-flying forward Liam Ryan is expected to miss a considerable amount of time owing to a training-related hamstring surgery.
As the season draws nearer, more players have been placed in the dubious category. Elijah Hewett, for example, is traveling east to seek treatment for an ankle injury, while Dom Sheed, Josh Rotham, and Archer Reid are all dealing with personal issues that they need to resolve before the first round of the playoffs next month.
Tim Kelly has returned to the training track despite experiencing a hamstring ailment throughout the summer.
