Seattle The Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL have finally ended their years-long rollercoaster, as they were not included in the list of clubs that survived the league’s merger with the USFL.

The United Football League (UFL), which would consist of eight teams overall, was announced on Sunday by the two leagues. There will be three USFL teams and five XFL teams in total.

The Orlando Guardians, Vegas Vipers, and Sea Dragons were the other two XFL teams that were left off the roster. The Houston Gamblers, New Jersey Generals, New Orleans Breakers, Philadelphia Stars, and Pittsburgh Maulers were not carried over by the USFL.

During the first XFL revival, which began in 2018, Seattle’s team was first known as the Dragons. That initial season was cut short by the epidemic in March of 2020, when the league ceased its operations.

Months later, Dwayne Johnson and a group of investors bought the XFL, rechristening Seattle as the Sea Dragons. The squad finished 7-3 in the inaugural season of the new league in 2023.

Plans to combine the USFL and XFL were initiated around the end of 2023. On New Year’s Day, that was formally announced.

Despite having a bad knee, Lawrence completed 20 of 29 passes for 204 yards and gained 59 yards on eight carries, which led the team. In the third quarter, linebacker Foyesade Oluokun recovered a Derek Carr interception 24 yards for a touchdown. Travis Etienne, a friend from their time at Clemson, scored two touchdowns.

Lawrence had never before won at the Superdome; his final two seasons at Clemson concluded with defeats in the postseason at the storied Big Easy stadium.

On Thursday, however, a game that the Jaguars appeared to have won after Oluokun’s touchdown came down to the wire and probably would have gone into OT if Saints tight end Foster Moreau had been able to catch what appeared to be a gimme 6-yard touchdown ball from Carr in the closing seconds of play. However, Carr missed his last opportunity to score on a fourth down, and Moreau was unable to hold on as New Orleans fell to 3-4. Nate Davis
