The NBA Suspended Draymond Green Indefinitely: Joe Dumars Explains

Joe Dumars, executive vice president of the NBA and head of basketball operations, spoke with ESPN’s First Take on Thursday about the decision to suspend Draymond Green, a top player for the Warriors, indefinitely.

Dumars stated unequivocally that getting Green the assistance he requires was the league’s first priority.

Dumars stated, “First of all, we were aware that there would be some sort of penalty.” However, we didn’t want that to take center stage. We wanted to emphasize how we could support Draymond as well. We concluded that the optimum course of action was indefinite.

Dumars said the concerns over whether a predetermined number of games would be regarded too high or too low also played into the decision to suspend Green permanently.

“To prevent individuals from becoming fixated on the number. “Oh, is it too high or too low?” Dumars continued. “Indefinite implies to take care of yourself. Regaining your emotional and mental well-being is the best method for you to perform at your highest level, which is what we want to see in you. Thus, that is how indefinite came to be.

Green consented to the NBA Players Association’s intention to challenge the league’s indefinite suspension, according to a different report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
