Deal completed: Wolves sign former Liverpool attacking midfielder Wolves have completed the signing of former Liverpool midfielder Paulo Alves, who left Anfield Giants.
Born on Christmas Day 1997, the 20-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder has arrived from the Merseyside club to join Rob Edwards’ Under-23s squad for the upcoming second Premier League season.

He signed a two-year contract and, like Cristiano Ronaldo, is from Madeira and spent three years on Merseyside after leaving Porto and going through the academy.
He was a key player in Liverpool’s Premier League 2 campaign last season.
Wolves U23 players are currently in the Netherlands preparing for Wednesday’s game against PEC Zwolle, before returning home after playing against Vitesse on Saturday.
The match between Wolves and Ajax, played on a neutral ground on Thursday afternoon, ended 1-1 thanks to a penalty from Ruben Neves.
The Portugal international scored midway through the second half after his compatriot Helder Costa ran around inside the penalty area and fell.
Donny van de Beek put Ajax ahead at the end of the first period, but Wolves deserved a draw at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium.
Below are some insights from Wolves’ third preseason friendly: Unbeaten Neves’ goal in the 74th minute kept Wolves unbeaten in preseason.
In two matches in Switzerland, Wolves defeated Basel 2-1 and Young Boys 4-0 to win the Watch Cup title.
And what followed was a much more competitive match against a strong Ajax team.
Ajax also faced Walsall, while Wolves faced Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Daley Blind, Matthijs de Ligt and Argentina international Nico Tagliafico.
For most clubs, results are secondary in pre-season, but at Wolves it feels different.
Nuno controlled his players from the start and demanded the highest standards.
Same system Wolves look set to stick with their tried-and-true 3-4-3 formation.
New striker Raul Jimenez is suited to the role of central striker, but Nuno also has the option of playing as a false nine alongside Diogo Jota.
The Wolves players look very comfortable and we understand that the club is currently recruiting players who are familiar with the system.
A specialist full-back is a top priority for Wolves, with Portuguese sources believing transfer target Joao Mario would be the perfect fit for Nuno’s high-pressing system.
A gem is unearthed Wolves have an exciting young player in Ryan Giles.
The 18-year-old winger was used as Wolves’ left-back in Barry Douglas’ absence and terrorized the Ajax defense every time he pushed forward.
Giles is fast-paced and has a habit of beating opponents to get to the baseline.
His performances could have been better at times, but that’s something Nuno and his coach can work on with the former Telford loanee.
Morgan Gibbs-White is now a full-fledged first-team player, a year on from impressing Nuno in pre-season.
Will Giles be the next Compton kid to break out?
Even if he’s not ready for the Premier League yet, there will be plenty of players in the EFL.
Walsall manager Dean Keats was only impressed by what he saw from Giles.
Pedro Gonçalves, the Portuguese child prodigy, also deserves attention.
The 20-year-old is incredibly proactive in possession, always looking forward even when others may be looking backwards.
Classy Costa Costa has put in an outstanding performance and is receiving well-deserved praise on social media and message boards tonight.

The 24-year-old winger underwent surgery on his ankle and missed last preseason.
As a result, he struggled to get up to speed last season and he found it difficult to maintain his place in Nuno’s starting XI.
But that won’t be the case in Wolves’ first season back in the Premier League.
Costa makes a place for himself
