Canadian QB is added to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ active roster…

Florida’s Jacksonville Before Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns (7-5), the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4) have added Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke to the active roster. Trevor Lawrence, the starting quarterback, is doubtful due to a high-ankle sprain.

On Saturday, the Jaguars made a roster change.

Lawrence sustained the injury late in Cincinnati’s 34-31 overtime defeat on Monday night.

Backup C.J. Beathard is anticipated to start for the first time since the 2020 regular-season finale against San Francisco if Lawrence is unable to play on Sunday. Beathard, on the other hand, is coping with a left non-throwing shoulder injury.

Rourke, who played a key role for the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League the previous season, has started his NFL career on the practice roster of the Jaguars.

Born in Victoria and raised in Oakville, Ontario, 25-year-old Rourke started 11 games in the 2021–2022 season for the Lions, throwing for 4,035 yards and 28 touchdowns. With 78.7% of his passes completed, he broke the previous CFL record and was named the league’s Most Outstanding Canadian.
