Nebraska football could be getting signing day surprise safety

When things officially go into effect on Wednesday morning, it appears as though the Huskers will be adding at least one more 2024 signee.

You’re not alone if you felt there was little actual significance to National Signing Day on February 7. For some time now, the Nebraska football team has appeared to be finished with this cycle. However, it turns out you would have been mistaken if you had thought that.

It turns out that after all is said and done on Wednesday, the Huskers may be adding one more defensive back to their roster. The fact that they might have pulled one over on Big Ten opponent Wisconsin if they sign Kahmir Prescott is even greater news.

Prescott announced on social media on Monday night that he will be committing on Wednesday. He is therefore among the last uncommitted and unsigned recruits who will formally choose their college on signing day.

Soon after the announcement, Nebraska football-related events began to take place. Even while 247Sports still rates him as a strong favorite to play for the Wisconsin Badgers, Sean Callahan and On3 are now very certain he will attend Lincoln.

It’s easy to see past the lines when projections of this nature resemble player announcements so closely. Prescott appears to be providing analysts with information that makes them think they understand his direction.

Sometimes the recruits don’t even hint. Sometimes it’s explicit.

Signing day surprise safety potentially be coming for Nebraska football players.
Kahmir Prescott is a 6-foot-6 safety from Neumann Goretti in Philadelphia. Many Big Ten colleges have been vying for his signature for a while now.

He’s a speed burner who excels in track and field, as have been many of the Nebraska football targets in recent years.

When he decommitted from the Badgers in December, Kahmir Prescott opened the door for Nebraska football to come in and seize him. They seem to have seized that chance.
