Only a small number of players from Alabama’s 2024 football recruiting class participated in Wednesday’s 2024 National Signing Day, as the majority of the class signed during the Early Signing Period in December. Among the athletes who signed was five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams, who during his sophomore year had committed to Alabama.
After Nick Saban’s retirement, he decommitted from Alabama, but Kalen DeBoer, the new head coach, was able to convince the nation’s eighth-ranked player to return to Tuscaloosa. On National Signing Day, Alabama also signed three-star linebacker Quinton Reese and four-star edge Noah Carter. The Tide completed the nation’s second-best recruiting class for the 2024 cycle, as determined by the 247Sports Composite rating.

DeBoer, Kalen Updates on Alabama recruiting
DeBoer’s staff has an eye on Folsom, California, defensive lineman Josiah Sharma, who is a 2025 prospect. Shortly after DeBoer left for Alabama, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman decommitted from Washington, where he had committed on New Year’s Day. Sharma was quickly extended an offer by the Crimson Tide, and he traveled to Tuscaloosa at the beginning of February. He is ranked No. 60 nationally among defensive linemen in his class by 247Sports, where he has a three-star rating. DeBoer is also targeting linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, who is the No. 1 prospect in Washington. Rainey-Sale was committed to DeBoer and Washington but chose to open up his recruitment when DeBoer left the Huskies for the Crimson Tide. DeBoer’s staff extended an Alabama offer to Rainey-Sale just days later and now he’s expected to choose between Washington and Alabama at some point.
Rainey-Sale, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 220 pounds, is rated as the 80th best prospect in the country for the Class of 2025, and he may end up being an important component for Alabama in that cycle. The Crimson Tide are presently ranked 30th in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings for 2025 and have only committed to two players. Rainey-Sale is anticipated to make formal visits in the spring, and later this year, this contest may come down to Washington vs. Alabama.
