In the most recent Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) report released by the NCAA, Illinois State Athletics received a four-year score of 990. The 17-team multi-year cumulative rate, or 990, is higher than the 984 four-year national average.

Every semester, the APR monitors the eligibility and retention of scholarship student-athletes and, once a year, presents a current picture of each team’s success on these two metrics.

Illinois State Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services Cindy Harris ’84 commented, “We are proud of our Redbird student-athletes for their classroom excellence and for exceeding very high national standards.”

“Without the hard work of our coaches, the staff of the Karin L. Bone Study Center, our University College advisors, and most importantly, the ISU faculty who push, encourage, and support our student-athletes every day in their academic pursuits, APR scores this high would not be possible.”

For the 2021–22 academic year, eleven Redbird teams—men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, women’s basketball, gymnastics, softball, women’s tennis, women’s swimming and diving, women’s track and field, and volleyball—achieved perfect APR single-year scores of 1,000.
