Johnson led the league with eight tackles for loss that season, while also recording two sacks, 19 defensive tackles, one pass knockdown, and one fumble recovery. In 2019, the Georgia native appeared in 15 games, recording 26 defensive tackles and four sacks, and was named a West Division All-Star.
Johnson played six seasons for the Calgary Stampeders before joining the Riders. He had 158 defensive tackles, 41 sacks, two interceptions, and six forced fumbles in 81 games.
Johnson is a three-time CFL All-Star (2016-2018), six-time divisional All-Star (2016-2022), and two-time Grey Cup champion, having won with Calgary in 2014 and 2018.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that they had reached an agreement with defensive lineman Micah Johnson, one day before the Canadian Football League (CFL) free agency season begins.
Johnson, who was due to become a free agency on Tuesday morning, has signed a one-year agreement with the Green and White that would keep him in Rider Nation through the 2024 season.
The three-time CFL All-Star appeared in all 18 games for the Riders in 2023, recording 27 defensive tackles, five sacks, one fumble recovery, and one tackle for loss.
Johnson will be in his fourth season with the Riders, having previously spent one with the Hamilton Tigers Cats (2022) and three with the Calgary Stampeders in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
