Knicks Sign Taj Gibson to Second 10-Day Contract | NBA Tracker

After Gibson’s 10-day contract ended, The Athletic’s Fred Katz reported that the team had signed him to another. Gibson played 13 minutes against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday and 22 minutes against the Dallas Mavericks last night, as the frontcourt was rocked by injuries to Isaiah Hartenstein and Julius Randle.

The reigning NBA MVP will not be on the Philadelphia 76ers’ roster for the foreseeable future.

Philadelphia revealed that Embiid had a knee procedure on Tuesday morning and would be out for at least four weeks before being reevaluated. This eliminates the chance of Embiid meeting the New York Knicks on February 22, which would have been each team’s first game after the All-Star break.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “there’s belief that the door remains open for Embiid’s return in the regular season.” The 76ers (30-19) are presently fifth in the Eastern Conference and have lost six of their last seven games. As of Tuesday night, the Sixers were 1.5 games behind the Knicks for fourth place and 3.5 games clear of Orlando and the Eastern Play-In Tournament.

Philadelphia will face the Golden State Warriors at home on Wednesday night (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).

New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson will face tight competition as he attempts to become the first Manhattanite to win the NBA’s Three-Point Contest.

According to Shams Charania, Brunson will be joined by Milwaukee’s Malik Beasley, Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton, Milwaukee’s Damian Lillard, and Utah’s Lauri Markkanen. In addition to Haliburton, who will have fans rooting for him as a member of the hosting Indiana Pacers, Brunson will battle the fifth-most accurate three-pointer shooter this season (Beasley), the event’s defending champion (Lillard), and the most recent Most Improved Player (Markkanen).

The Three-Point Contest will take place on February 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium as part of All-Star Saturday.

FEBRUARY 4, JOEL OUT

The Knicks are now ranked fourth in the NBA East, while the Philadelphia 76ers are fifth.

For the Sixers, that is likely about to change, as center Joel Embiid will have knee surgery this week, with the Sixers not specifying how long the MVP candidate will be away.

The Charlotte Hornets confirmed that LaMelo Ball (ankle) will miss Monday night’s game against the New York Knicks (7 p.m. ET, MSG), keeping him out for the second straight game. Ball, who has only participated in 22 games this season, is the Hornets’ highest scorer at 23.9 points per game, having scored 66 points in his previous two outings versus the Knicks this season.

If things continue in the same direction, there will be plenty of star power and headlines for the New York Knicks’ Thursday night game against the Indiana Pacers.

Tyrese Haliburton is expected to return from injury against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night (7:30 p.m. ET, TNT), putting him on track to play in the Pacers’ Thursday game at Madison Square Garden.

Haliburton has missed 10 of the last 11 games due to a hamstring injury, and he was recently chosen an Eastern Conference starter for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Thursday will also be Obi Toppin’s first visit to MSG since he was traded to Indianapolis in July for two draft selections.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers forward will be out for at least the next two weeks due to a sprained right ankle. While Reddish will be re-evaluated at that point, he will almost certainly miss the Lakers’ game at Madison Square Garden next Saturday. It would have been Reddish’s first appearance at Madison Square Garden since the Knicks traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers for Josh Hart.

Reddish, 24, has found a defensive niche in Los Angeles as he attempts to regain the narrative of his NBA career after failing to live up to his top-10 draft pick billing in Atlanta, New York, and Portland. He appeared in 35 games (8 starts) during portions of two seasons with the Knicks, averaging

The reigning champion Denver Nuggets may have suffered significant defeats in more ways than one on Thursday night.

Despite a 31-point, 11-rebound performance from two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, Denver suffered a 112-84 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. While Jokic committed seven turnovers in defeat, his 13-of-18 shooting performance from the field was perhaps even more impressive given that he was nursing an eye injury in the final minutes of the game after being accidently poked by Donte DiVincenzo. Jokic was able to finish the game, but ESPN’s Tim Bontemps provided a concerning report in the aftermath.
