Jimmy Butler, the Miami Heat’s star forward, has revealed that he wants to produce a country music record. He is well on his way to completing his goal of 200 songs, having already written 60.
Jimmy Butler III, widely regarded as one of the top players in the National Basketball Association (NBA), is much more than just a brilliant basketball player. Since 2019, the Miami Heat’s 6’7″, 230-pound forward has been setting the court on fire.
Just this week, “Jimmy Buckets” returned to the court after missing 11 of the previous 12 games to score 31 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 15-of-16 from the line, with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. This type of play for a season-high 40 minutes on the floor highlights his abilities, but it also demonstrates his remarkable work ethic.
Butler, one of the most compelling players in NBA history, might have gone home and written a country song after he finished playing basketball. Wait, what?
That’s correct. The six-time NBA All-Star, five-time All-NBA Team recipient, five-time NBA All-Defensive Team honoree, and Olympic Gold Medalist is also a country music songwriter with plans to release an entire album and at least one hit song.
In an interview with The Guardian, the passionate country music fan revealed that he has written more than 60 songs in the last year and hopes to boost that number to over 200 before releasing his own album. Butler envisions himself as a songwriter/producer in this next chapter of his well-rounded life.
Butler chose this initiative as a method to “humble” himself. In his broad vision of life, he admitted that many people, including himself, believe things are easy. Thinking he could make a No. 1 hit song before even starting, the vision became evident that the process was not so simple.
Butler’s ever-expanding resume has shown him to be much more than a star basketball player. His antics on media day provide only a little insight of the character within. Butler encourages individuals to be themselves. “One of my biggest things is just to continually try and make people so comfortable in their own skin that they’ll unapologetically always be them.”
Being himself in every sense of the term has been an effective strategy for developing the Butler brand. The all-star athlete indulged in coffee before to embarking on his country music career. BIGFACE coffee was introduced in October 2021 in conjunction with International Coffee Day.
