Colts suspend ex-Bills receiver Isaiah McKenzie

Isaiah McKenzie, a former wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, will not play for the Indianapolis Colts for the duration of their postseason run.

Due to actions that were detrimental to the organization, the Colts (8-6) placed McKenzie and cornerback Tony Brown on the Reserve/Suspended list for three games. Due to their bans, McKenzie and Brown, who were healthy scratches in the Colts’ Saturday 30–13 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.

McKenzie has only made 11 catches for 82 yards in his limited Colts playing time. 13 percent of the offensive snaps and 28 percent of the special teams snaps for the Colts have been played by him.

He was a member of the Bills from 2018 to 2022 before agreeing to a one-year contract with the Colts prior to the 2018 season. McKenzie recorded 137 catches for 1,316 yards and 11 touchdowns over his five seasons with Buffalo.

In his final season with Buffalo, McKenzie had the best season of his career, posting career highs in receiving yards (423), touchdowns (4), and catches (42). In 2022, he also rushed for touchdowns and 55 yards.

Currently holding the No. 7 seed, Indianapolis is ahead of the Bills (8-6) and Houston Texans (8-6) for the last Wild Card slot. The Atlanta Falcons (6-8), Las Vegas Raiders (6-8), and Texans are the teams the Colts play their final three games against.

It’s unknown if McKenzie will be available for a potential playoff game.

Buffalo plays the Los Angeles Chargers (5-9), New England Patriots (3-11), and Miami Dolphins (10-4), while Houston plays the Tennessee Titans (5-9) and the Colts.

According to ESPN stats, Buffalo presently has the highest odds to qualify for the postseason at 63 percent, followed by Indianapolis at 55 percent and Houston at 52 percent.

Buffalo’s game against the Chargers on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at SoFi Stadium will be an attempt to maintain their lead in the wild card race.
