Overview: LSU Tigers’ Instant Impact Transfers The Tigers opted to make portal additions, bringing in several instant impact players.
Brian Kelly has been fielding calls throughout the season as the Tigers make changes in recent weeks.
From the transfer portal to hiring a coach, this program has been a huge undertaking.
There were several groups of positions that Kelly and his community needed to focus on.

Now they have taken some steps.
Let’s take a look at the new additions and who has a chance to make an immediate impact on the program: Proven returning specialist with top hands joins Tigers for 2024 season Provide monster weapons.
After his two years in Starkville, Thomas was ready for a change of pace and decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
The Louisiana native is now a Tiger after the program quickly took notice of the elite wideout and return specialist.
Thomas is a player we expected the Tigers to sign sooner rather than later.
Despite the buzz on the portal, LSU pressed ahead with a full court hearing against him during an unofficial visit last month.
After a 2023 season in which he totaled 503 yards on 40 receptions, Thomas will be a key figure in LSU’s rebuild next season.
Keep an eye on the Louisiana native as the program’s coveted wideout and return specialist.
Swann played in 15 games and started 12 in his two seasons as a Commodore.
He started all six games he played in the 2023 season, catching 1,457 passes and 12 touchdowns with just seven interceptions.
Heading into the 2023 season, the 6-foot-1, 225-pounder was considered Vanderbilt’s starting pitcher until an injury forced him to miss the rest of the season.
Garrett Nussmeyer will be the Tigers’ starting quarterback in 2024, but it was important for LSU to have a proven signal-caller in its back pocket and bring in Swann.
Jaire Brown: Cornerback Brown, a Louisiana native, entered the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.
The former four-star cornerback attracted interest from multiple SEC programs, with the Tigers ultimately signing him.
Mr.
Kelly emphasized on the portal the importance of tracking Louisianans with multiple years of eligibility.
For brown, check both boxes.
During his two seasons at Ohio State, he totaled nine tackles and three passes defended, giving him a chance to take the next step with more playing time.
The former top 250 prospect could be a key piece of LSU’s defensive backfield next season as the cornerback room lacks stability.
Auburn defensive back Austin Ausberry committed to LSU last month, giving the Baton Rouge native three years of eligibility.
The former four-star defensive back from University High School (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) has become one of the top prospects in Auburn’s 2022 freshman class.
He redshirted his freshman season.
Ausberry recorded only 35 snaps for his 2023 season.
He only made one tackle in four games.

Now back in his hometown for a fresh start, Ausberry looks to continue the trend of Louisiana natives returning to the Bayou State and make an impact with the Tigers.
Safety Jardine Gilbert – Texas A&M The former high school star, also from Louisiana, returns home to wear the purple and gold with two seasons remaining.
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Gilbert has achieved the size the program is looking for by strengthening defensive backs through the portal.
In 2023, Gilbert started the season as a starter at Texas A&M, but he suffered a shoulder injury after just two games and had to withdraw from his junior season.
In the two games he played, he recorded a total of five tackles.
