Adam Reynolds and Patrick Carrigan, two players for the Brisbane Broncos, were involved in a late-night incident that led to an NRL Integrity Unit inquiry that ended with both receiving breach notices.

“Both players are alleged to have engaged in a physical altercation in public which has brought the game into disrepute,” according to a brief press release.

Adam Reynolds and Patrick Carrigan received notices of violation from the NRL
“The NRL today issued Brisbane Broncos players Adam Reynolds and Patrick Carrigan with breach notices alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following a public incident this week,” the statement went on to say.

“The NRL has reminded other players involved in the incident of their responsibilities under the NRL Code of Conduct.”

Now, the two have five business days to reply to the notification.

In a brief video, Reynolds and Carrigan could be seen fighting while a third man tried to break them up and diffuse the situation.

“The club was made aware of the incident last night and has been speaking to players across the course of the day to clarify details of what occurred,” the club said.

“The NRL Integrity Unit has been informed of the matter.”

The two had just left Red Hill’s annual fan day a few hours before the incident.

Has the NRL banned Adam Reynolds and Patrick Carrigan?
On the eve of the new season, the situation surrounding Reynolds and Carrigan is not good for the team.

The NRL Integrity Unit has given the players violation notices for the event, notwithstanding coach Kevin Walters’ statement that the team will not suspend the players.

The Broncos experienced a similar situation two years prior when Payne Haas and Albert Kelly were observed fighting.

The problem, which allegedly started when the prop became upset with Kelly for scuffing his new shoes while out on the town, led to an investigation into both Haas and Kelly.

A bystander captured the subsequent physical brawl outside of a venue on camera, and it was shared on social media.

Ultimately, it led to the two receiving fines and one-match suspensions for tarnishing the reputation of the game.

The Sydney Morning Herald, however, is claiming that despite receiving breach warnings, the two will only be fined for the incident.

Carrigan has been struck with a $10,000 sanction, meaning they will be free to participate in the team’s season-opening game in Las Vegas, but Reynolds will have to pay a recommended $5,000 fine.

Adam Reynolds is “humbled and embarrassed” by the occurrence
According to reports, Reynolds, the captain of Brisbane, expressed his humiliation about the event involving him and Carrigan.

On the day following the event, Reynolds and Carrigan faced the media and expressed contrition for their respective conduct.

“Adam had my best interests at heart, and it was obviously time for me to go home. I won’t go into the specifics of it.”

“We feel ashamed,” Reynolds remarked.

“We accept full responsibility for what transpired. We’re a very close-knit group. Although we know it doesn’t seem good, we were there as friends.

“It began as a lighthearted altercation and a brief wrestling match that turned a little hot, but nobody was hurt. We accept responsibility and are aware that it doesn’t seem well in the eyes of the public.

Walters stated that neither player has been suspended by the club, and he expects the league to do the same. Both individuals are still anticipated to participate in the Las Vegas season opening.

“From our perspective, they will be on the plane [to Las Vegas],” added Walters.

“They won’t be placed on suspension. It’s currently in the hands of the NRL Integrity Unit, who are conducting interviews and reviewing the entire vision.

“It’s up to the NRL to give them the all clear which I imagine they would, but it’s not my decision.”

Even though there were no punches exchanged between the two Broncos players, Triple M’s Ben “Dobbo” Dobbin reports that the event has shaken the organization, especially because the 2024 NRL season is just a few weeks away.

On Monday afternoon, Dobbin stated, “He’s upset about the whole incident, he’s embarrassed, he’s humiliated, and he wishes it hadn’t happened,” on Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Leisel Jones, Liam, and Dobbin.

Although there were no blows exchanged, it still looks bad.

“I’ve talked to Kevvie Walters, and he is enraged—absolutely enraged—about it.

“It is a truth that they were advised to move on once the police were summoned.

“There will be fines.”

Broncos altercation also including Reece Walsh and Payne Haas
The Broncos’ Sunday night incident appears unlikely to end anytime soon, as new footage indicates that Payne Haas and Reece Walsh, two more players, were also present during the alleged altercation between Reynolds and Carrigan.
