Nottingham Forest fired Steve Cooper.
Nottingham Forest fired manager Steve Cooper after 819 days in charge.
Cooper was fired on Tuesday after losing five of his last six games as Forest manager.
The 44-year-old exits the City Ground with Forest 17th in the Premier League standings.
Cooper joined Forest in September 2021, when the club was bottom of the EFL Championship.
After an extraordinary run of form, Forest finished fourth in the 2021/22 season before winning promotion via the Championship play-offs.
Forest finished 16th in the Premier League last season after signing 30 new players in the next two transfer windows.
But a terrible start to the 2022/23 season forced Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis to fire Cooper.
According to BBC Sport, Nuno Espirito Santo, who previously managed Wolves and Tottenham, is expected to replace Cooper.
Forest announced on Tuesday afternoon that Steve Cooper had been dismissed of his duties as head coach of Nottingham Forest after more than two years in charge.
“Cooper departs The City Ground having played an integral part in Forest’s return to the Premier League, cementing himself firmly into the Club’s rich history after guiding The Reds back into England’s top-flight.”
Marinakis stated, “Everyone at Nottingham Forest would like to thank Steve for his outstanding contributions to our football club.” His success in taking Forest back to the Premier League will definitely be remembered as a legendary moment in the club’s history.
“We appreciate Steve’s passion and devotion during his time with us, as well as the great connections he made with our supporters and the city of Nottingham.
Steve will always be a friend of the club and welcome at The City Ground. “We wish him success in his future endeavors.”
Cooper oversaw 108 Forest games in all competitions, with 42 wins, 27 draws, and 39 losses.
