Lamar Jackson plans throwing sessions with his teammates at Florida Atlantic.
The mandatory minicamp is passed, but Lamar Jackson’s offseason preparation will continue.
According to Head Coach John Harbaugh, Jackson and a handful of Ravens receivers and tight ends will gather at Florida Atlantic University for throwing sessions led by FAU Head Coach Willie Taggert. It’s another method for Jackson to stay sharp and develop chemistry with his targets before training camp begins in late July.
Taggert, a personal friend of Harbaugh’s, was a standout collegiate quarterback at Western Kentucky while playing for his father, Jack Harbaugh.

“Willie Taggart – the head coach down there…he’s going to host them for some throwing, and that’s going to be good,” Harbaugh said in a statement. “So, they’ve all got their plans to do that, and I’ll be calling them and asking them how it’s going, probably.”
Jackson performed admirably over three days of obligatory minicamp practices last week, throwing the ball with greater velocity after adding 12-15 pounds of muscle mass. Jackson has clearly spent a lot of time in Florida working with throwing coach Adam Dedeaux and personnel trainer Emonee Spence.

In 2021, the Ravens missed the playoffs for the first time in Jackson’s career, so he’s determined to produce his best season yet. The ankle injury that sidelined him for the final five games provided an unwelcome break from football. Jackson has fully recovered and is excited to use the throwing sessions at FAU to expand on the training he has done in recent months.
“Get with the guys, and we’ll work,” Jackson stated. “Watch some films and work on our chemistry some more. Because the football season has officially begun. We had the offseason before I arrived, and things like that. Football season has begun, so we’re going to grind right now.”
