Auburn’s second-highest-rated prospect has formally committed to the program.
Perry Thompson, a five-star wide receiver in the 2024 class, has signed with Auburn, according to his social media.
Phillips is the No. 7 wide receiver, the No. 26 prospect nationally, and the No. 5 player in Alabama, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Recruitment: In addition to switching from Alabama to Auburn, Thompson has had offers from Tennessee, Miami, and Troy, among other programs.
Thompson most likely did not receive as many offers as he would have if he had made his decision over the summer prior to his senior season, as many other recruits did.
Thompson is currently ranked 14th in the nation by 247 Sports, 47th by On3, 59th by Rivals, and 40th by ESPN.
Frame: Thompson is the traditional big-bodied wide receiver who might fit right in with a contemporary NFL club, presuming he wore his helmet during warmups. Literally. He is physically developed and will only grow stronger.
Thompson is a physically dominant player from head to toe. He merely needs to improve from here on out, which is one of the main reasons he may play early for Auburn.
