ISL 2023-24: East Bengal sign former La Liga center-back Aleksandar Pantic
Pantic is an experienced centre-back who has competed in the world’s top leagues. The Serbian has played for several European clubs, including Villarreal CF, SD Eibar, Red Star Belgrade, and Dynamo Kyiv.
East Bengal FC has signed Serbian defender Aleksandar Pantic for the balance of the 2023-24 ISL season, as revealed on February 15, 2024.
The announcement came shortly after East Bengal parted company with Jose Pardo due to a long-term injury he sustained in a match against Northeast United FC, which will keep him out for the entire season.
Pantic is an experienced centre-back with high-profile appearances in the world’s top divisions. The Serbian has previously played for European clubs such as Villarreal CF, Red Star Belgrade, and Dynamo Kyiv, as well as representing Serbia’s U-19 and U-21 sides.
Pantic discussed joining the red and gold brigade. “It gives me great joy to join a historical club like East Bengal. This season has been full of amazing experiences for the club, and I want to do everything I can to make our fans happy. I am grateful to Coach Carles and the East Bengal management for the opportunity. Joy, East Bengal!”
East Bengal will play Hyderabad FC next on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
