East Bengal is complete. Aaron Amadi-Holloway has signed a one-season contract.

On Tuesday, East Bengal and Aaron Amadi-Holloway formalized their partnership, and the two have now joined forces. KhelNow has just verified that the 27-year-old striker has signed to a one-year contract that would keep him with the Red and Golds till the end of the current Indian Super League season.

“Brisbane Roar forward Aaron Amadi-Holloway has penned a one-year deal with Kolkata giants East Bengal,” KhelNow reported at the time.

Aaron Amadi is the second player to join coach Robbie Fowler at SC East Bengal, following Scott Neville. Unlike Neville, who is on loan, the Nigerian-born Welsh youth international is a free agent.

Aside from the 2019-20 season, Aaron Amadi spent his whole career in the English League system, appearing in nearly 200 games. However, records show that the 27-year-old scored only 19 goals, which does not bode well for a centre forward.

Last season, the former Wycombe Wanderers player joined the A-League, playing for the Brisbane Roar, which was led by Robbie Fowler. He played in 22 games for them, with the Liverpool legend primarily utilizing him as a substitute. The Cardiff youth product had one goal and one assist.

These signings came at a time when the I-League side, owned by ‘Quess Corp.’, had terminated all previous contracts, leaving its players without a month’s (May) salary. Without consulting the players, management activated the contract’s ‘Force Majeure Clause’.

Returning to the transfers, the three members of the Indian national team are returning home. Sehnaj Singh spent the 2016 season with the century-old club and has signed again after winning the Indian Super League with ATK. In ATK, the 26-year-old had hard competition for a spot in the playing XI and only played 385 minutes. The I-League winner with Mohun Bagan will try to restore his form and confidence in order to re-qualify for the national squad.

Bikash Jairu had spent two seasons with East Bengal before joining Jamshedpur FC permanently in 2017. During his three seasons with the Steelmen, the 29-year-old appeared in 37 games across all competitions and assisted once. This season, the Sikkimese veiled for only 520 minutes.

Cavin Lobo, meanwhile, returns to East Bengal after two years. The Goan joined Kolkata in 2012 and spent six seasons there before heading to ATK in 2018. Devoid of playing time at ATK, the 32-year-old went on loan to I-League clubs Churchill Brothers and Punjab FC in both seasons.

A day earlier, East Bengal confirmed that Mario Rivera will remain as head coach.
