Magette Re-signs with JackJumpers

Tasmania Josh Magette, a JackJumpers superstar import, will return to Tasmania for the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL season after signing a one-year contract extension with the team.

Magette was a key player in the JackJumpers’ inaugural season, placing third in the MVP vote and second in the League in assists, averaging 5.89 assists per game.

During the 2021/22 Hungry Jacks’ NBL season, the 6’1 point guard averaged more than 12 points and 1.2 steals per game.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that we’ve been able to finalize a deal to bring Josh back for another season,” CEO Simon Brookhouse stated.

“He provided excellent leadership and direction both on and off the court in our first year, and we’re thrilled to have him back in JackJumpers colours. “He is an excellent fit for us as we strive to improve and grow as a club.”

Magette says he and his family are thrilled to be returning to Tasmania.

“I’m really pleased to be returning to Tasmania for another season. We could not have loved last season more; the supporters were simply wonderful, and I’m delighted to continue building on the foundations we’ve created with a great bunch of individuals.” Magette

Magette has returned home to Alabama, USA, with his wife, Christina, and daughter, Josephine, for an extended rest during the NBL off season.

The Magettes just announced that they are expecting their second child in December.

“It’s very special to have the baby in Tasmania. The entire club is family-oriented, and we feel extremely well supported by everyone, particularly the other young families.

“We’re hoping that some of our family members will be able to visit from the United States around the time the baby is due and meet everyone here. Magette stated that the baby will undoubtedly be a small JackJumper from birth.

The family will travel to Tasmania in mid-August for the JackJumpers pre-season, which precedes the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
