Roanoke served as Rody Claeys’ residence in the SPHL for more than two years. After making a few appearances in the ECHL and AHL, he returned to the Star City and was the backup goalie for the Rail Yard Dawgs in their championship campaign.
Macon is Claeys’ new SPHL residence. He ensured that on Monday night, the Mayhem defeated Roanoke to record a rare victory.
At the Macon Coliseum, Macon defeated the visiting Rail Yard Dawgs 5-2 with 42 saves from Claeys and two goals from Billy Jerry.
It was the second time in 17 encounters that the Rail Yard Dawgs (23-11-6-1) fell short against the Mayhem (11-25-3-2). But those two losses occurred this month following Macon’s 3-2 victory on February 2.
Roanoke’s goals came from Owen McDade and Tommy Munichiello.
After three straight goals from Macon, Jerry’s two goals gave the Mayhem a 4-1 lead.
