McCoy said his favorite thing about Penn State is the people.
There is also plenty of support from alumni.
And that’s always been the thing that meant the most to him, he said.
Courtesy of Maryland Athletics The name Kelly McCoy is one of the most recognizable names in Penn State wrestling.
A two-time national champion (1994, 1997), McCoy compiled a 131-1 record in his second season with the Nittany Lions and represented the United States in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics.
.
He has to balance being a Penn State graduate and being a head coach in the Big Ten Conference to do his part.
But he always enjoys coming back to State University.
McCoy took time to talk with The Center Daily Times about Penn State’s chances of winning another Hodge Trophy, how fan support has stuck with him throughout his career, and more.
?Do you think Penn State has a good chance of winning a fifth championship this year?
Zane Retherford, Jason Nolf, and Bo Knickal have all been involved in speculative talks for Hodge early this season.
?
What do you think about that?
A: I think their chances are quite high.
I mean, we’ve got some pretty good players that are doing well, so I think there’s a pretty good chance we’ll have a trophy left and make a few appearances in State College over the next few years.
It’s always interesting when you talk about Penn State.
It’s a very exciting university as a graduate, but it’s not so exciting as a competition, so you always have to toe the line.
Without a doubt, they are his three of the most exciting wrestlers.
To me, Zayn is definitely one of the most dominant wrestlers in college wrestling right now.
Kyle Snyder, who has spent time playing internationally, would be the next candidate.
Zayn has done a great job and it’s really exciting.
Jason is in a similar situation.
Over the past few years, he has proven himself to be one of the better players in this or any other weight class.
Bo had some tough matches here and there, but still earned a lot of points at the end of the day.
Yes, these three guys are doing a great job for the Nittany Lions and for the sport in general.
That means you have to be ready for it.

When confronting them, you must be ready to fight.
And all other people in the country can see what these people are doing and try to imitate it.
Q: What is your favorite memory from your time at Penn State?
A: The people.
It is amazing.
We went back to duals last year and a lot of the faces that were there when I competed are still there and it’s really great to see them.
As you know, I didn’t get off to a good start my first year.
I’ve had my ups and downs, but people – at least from my perspective.
