The creaky, mediocre Los Angeles Lakers should have seen this coming | Los Angeles Lakers | The Guardian

The San Antonio Spurs’ first meeting of the season will not be easy as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers in back-to-back games.

However, they’ll need to rely on more than simply Wembanyama… and slow down their guests if they hope to emerge with a win or two.

SAN ANTONIO: The San Antonio Spurs hoped that by this stage of the season, they would have fallen behind by less than 17 games.

Although the parallel was ingrained in the minds of nearly every Spurs fan with a social media graphic, nobody was anticipating a comeback of the kind that Tim Duncan or David Robinson brought in their rookie seasons.

First of all, during his debut season, Wembanyama lacked a teammate similar to Robinson. That was Duncan’s privilege.

Robinson, too? distinct era. distinct roster.

The Spurs of this season are centered around Wembanyama to an extent that very few other teams do as well. San Antonio is losing games because its roster is the youngest in the league. That much was evident on Monday night.

Even though the Spurs lost their most recent game to bring their season total to 3-19, three quarters of the season remain. And fortunately for them, they get off to a great start.

Wembanyama will face his hardest opponent to date in his debut season when LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers visit town for a two-game series on Wednesday and Friday
