Should the Panthers bring DJ Chark back?
Carolina has to improve its receiver room, but keeping veteran DJ Chark might not be a bad idea.

This offseason, the Carolina Panthers will have to make some important decisions. DJ Chark, an experienced wide receiver, has a less promising future.

In his one season with the Panthers, Chark had 35 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns, leading the team. It wasn’t high-level production, but no one in that offense was particularly successful.

Toward the end of the year, we began to notice a connection between Chark and rookie quarterback Bryce Young. On Christmas Eve, the two connected eight times for 98 yards, two of which went for touchdowns. Chark had four receptions for 46 yards in the season finale versus Tampa Bay.

Chark admitted in December that he was being exploited in a way that was not consistent with past years.

“This is something new. “My previous role was different,” he told AllPanthers.com. “But I’m going to roll with the punches and do what I need to do no matter what. Keep pushing, keep fighting, and try to create plays when I get the chance, and as

Aside from Chark and fellow veteran Adam Thielen, the Panthers’ wide receiver room was severely underwhelming. Thielen will be in year two of a three-year contract, while Chark is an unrestricted free agent.

You need someone who can extend the field, and Chark has demonstrated that ability throughout his career. I am confident that Dave Canales will be able to get the most out of him and find a role for him to thrive in. He won’t cost a lot of money, and it doesn’t detract from the goal of bringing in a No. 1 receiver. If the front staff can acquire a genuine number one and get Chark back on a modest one-year deal, Bryce Young will have a pretty solid top three lineup.
