Despite not knowing exactly where his future lies, Caleb Williams, the projected first overall choice in the 2018 NFL Draft, is very thrilled about what lies ahead for him.
The 22-year-old quarterback from USC is aware that the Chicago Bears, a franchise with a ton of issues, are expected to select him first overall and may be getting ready to cut quarterback Justin Fields to make place for Williams.
It could be really strange to enter the locker room that was just recently Fields’s. The Bears aren’t exactly a top choice for quarterbacks these days.
Williams, though, is content with whatever occurs. He’s trying his best to concentrate on the numerous benefits, even if he has no control over it.
Williams has not yet met with the Bears; however, that will take place on Wednesday when he gets to the NFL scouting combine.
He will also meet with the Washington Commanders (pick number two), New England Patriots (pick number three), New York Giants (pick number six), Atlanta Falcons (pick number eight), New York Jets (pick number ten), Minnesota Vikings (choose number eleven), and Las Vegas Raiders (pick number thirteen).
The Bears would have to pass on Williams first if he’s going to fall to the Commanders or beyond, but the Patriots, Falcons, Vikings, and Commanders are all seeking for franchise quarterbacks to build around.
Even if it doesn’t seem likely, the Bears might choose to remain with Fields and make a trade down. Nothing is finalized unless Chicago trades the pick or Fields.
Though Williams primarily discussed the Bears with ESPN, he made it apparent that he is genuinely unconcerned with his destination.
He has worked extremely hard to achieve his objective of beginning his NFL career, and he is truly excited about it
