Alabama players comment on the Crimson Tide’s defensive transfer portal additions.
Nick Saban has already signed two top talents via the transfer portal: Texas A&M’s LT Overton and USC’s Domani Jackson.

Los Angeles— Alabama may be in the midst of another College Football Playoff run, with a Rose Bowl showdown against No. 1 Michigan on the horizon, and Nick Saban was locked in during Thursday’s practice, but that hasn’t hindered the Crimson Tide head coach’s recruiting efforts.

Not only did Alabama sign a quality class on Early Signing Day, but the Crimson Tide has already added two vital defensive players from the transfer portal: Texas A&M defensive lineman LT Overton and USC cornerback Domani Jackson.

Overton came with the team to California for the Rose Bowl (despite the fact that he will not be allowed to participate), while Jackson committed to Alabama on Thursday night after being spotted at the team’s practice earlier that day.

Malachi Moore, a current Alabama defensive back, claimed he is familiar with the USC defensive back because he hosted Jackson during his recruiting visit to Alabama. Jackson was a high school classmate of Bryce Young at Mater Dei and was a five-star prospect when Alabama recruited him.

Moore said he didn’t get to catch up with Jackson at practice, but he did provide his wisdom for the Crimson Tide’s newest member.

“Just be ready to come in and work,” Moore said Friday morning. “It’s really a unique experience to go against the best of the best each and every day.”

Moore attended Senior Day in November, but he still has another year of eligibility due to the COVID waiver and might play for Jackson next season. Moore, on the other hand, stated that for the time being, he is only concerned about the College Football Playoff and has not made any decisions regarding his future.

Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner remembers Jackson from high school. He also has watched a lot of film on Overton when he was studying Texas A&M’s pass rushing success in the SEC.

“He brings a lot of pass rush [ability,] very physical,” Turner said about Overton. “A big body as well. I feel like he can play to the standard we play at at the University of Alabama.”
