In his first basketball game since October, rookie Mouhamed Gueye of the Atlanta Hawks looked like a lottery pick, despite being selected with the 39th overall choice in the previous summer’s draft.
The 21-year-old Senegalese player made his debut with Atlanta’s G League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks, showcasing his 6-foot-11 physique and 7-foot-3 wingspan.
Gueye scored 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting in just 16 minutes of play, along with four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block.
Though he was chosen 39th overall in the previous summer’s draft, Atlanta Hawks rookie Mouhamed Gueye looked like a lottery pick in his first basketball game since October.
With the College Park Skyhawks, Atlanta’s G League club, the 21-year-old Senegalese player made his debut, displaying his 6-foot-11 frame and 7-foot-3 wingspan.
In just 16 minutes of action, Gueye recorded 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block.
Gueye is obviously thrilled to be playing competitive basketball again after missing almost four months due to a stress fracture in his right lower back last November.
Following an impressive performance, Gueye talked to Soaring Down South about his feelings about playing again after such a long injury layoff.
