Wizards guard Jordan Poole returns to Chase Center to face former Warriors team

AP SAN FRANCISCO — After momentarily losing possession of the ball, Jordan Poole playedfully passed it back to the sideline to incorporate a couple of Israeli lads in his warm-up.

They adored it to no end.

Poole grinned as he made his way around saying hello and giving embraces to fans on Friday night as he returned to Chase Center to play his old team.

He appeared carefree and easygoing, and of course he was wearing his trademark hoodie.

Before Washington’s game against Golden State, Poole hurried back to the locker room and stated, “Sticking to the plan. That’s all you can do.”

Indeed, he made an effort to maintain his composure during what turned out to be a poignant evening filled with recollections.

After exchanging jerseys with fellow Milwaukee native and close buddy Kevon Looney, Poole remarked, “It was just special.”

As a member of the Warriors’ 2022 championship team, Poole received a standing ovation and a pregame film tribute.

After that, he launched an 18-foot shot from the wing to open the scoring, but each time he advanced to the free-throw line, he was jeered.

On draft day, the Warriors traded Poole to the Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul. Draymond Green,

who is now serving an NBA indefinite suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face after previously serving a five-game suspension for putting Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert in a chokehold, punched Poole during practice last year during training camp.
