Three-time MVP Mike Trout returns to lineup amid Angels dwindling playoff hopes | Fox News

The timer for Mike Trout’s comeback is running out.

After undergoing surgery on July 3, the center fielder for the Angels was able to resume playing on August 22.

After one game, he felt more pain in his hand and wrist than he thought he would be able to handle, which led to another time on the injured list on August 25.

After being placed back on the IL, Trout told reporters in New York, “I wasn’t right.” “My pain level was above bearable.

I believed I could push myself to return there, and the following day, I was quite sore.

Trout will accompany the team on its next road trip, which includes games against the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays.

With just 12 games left in the schedule, Trout, the three-time MVP of the American League, does not have much more time to make a comeback. Nevertheless, he has been making an effort.

Without a doubt, Trout’s comeback at this juncture would not affect the Angels’ season’s outcome. They were mathematically out of the postseason picture after their Saturday night loss to the Tigers.

They were 68-82 after their 5-3 loss to Detroit on Sunday at Angel Stadium, which ensured that they would have another losing season.

Trout’s return would matter more in the spectrum of peace of mind for himself, being able to finish a season not on the IL, especially considering this is his third consecutive season that has been derailed because of an injury. Trout was unavailable for comment for this article.

He played just 36 games in 2021 because of a left calf strain. In 2022, he missed a month recovering from a back injury.

He worked diligently between 2022 and 2023 to ensure that neither of those problems would come back, only to suffer the hamate bone fracture fouling off a pitch.
